Azerbaijan and Turkey Conduct Joint Military Exercises Again: New Details from a Military Expert

Military expert Karen Hovhannisyan reports that Azerbaijan and Turkey are conducting joint military exercises again on Azerbaijani territory. This exercise is a joint drill for communication troops, which is a unique way to work together, ensure cooperation, and develop common rules for communicating with each other.

We can state that the intensity of these joint Azerbaijani-Turkish military exercises once again has a psychological status for us, but we can also use these exercises against them. If the region is moving towards peace, and if indeed the aspirations of these two dictators are to establish peace, then why are they re-militarizing an already sensitive and fragile region?

The sole target of the Turkish-Azerbaijani military exercises is the Republic of Armenia. The armed forces of these two countries have only attacked the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh together; they have no other target, meaning our nation is the target of their combined military force.

I propose that our state should not respond to these exercises with military drills; we should refrain from conducting unplanned exercises and instead focus more on the implementation and training of new armaments, new technologies, new methodologies, and new tactics, as well as pay greater attention to organizing training courses in military specialties or support initiatives in the public sector to handle these functions.

Alongside new technologies and armaments, we should also clarify our relationships with our strategic partners through specific agreements for particular situations. In short, we should not be guided by the enemy’s agenda and we must take the initiative into our own hands.
