Are They Doing All This Deliberately or Out of Ignorance? "Pasta"

“And so, no state official was present at the sacred liturgy on the Feast of the Resurrection. Such a thing seems to have never happened before. If, for some reason, the head of state does not attend (let’s consider this year’s absence honorable), then the presence of other officials has certainly been ensured. Of course, opinions vary in this regard. Some believe that the authorities, who have always fought against the Armenian Apostolic Church, are now clearly expressing their attitude, while others think this was a demarche against the church since the Armenian Apostolic Church demanded Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation. Many also argue that representatives of this government simply fear to go out to crowded places without bodyguards or police, even if it’s the church. Perhaps all these opinions are correct and intertwined. However, Nikol Pashinyan and his team are not only ‘visible’ by their absence from the sacred liturgy. Yesterday was the Day of Remembrance of the Dead, as every Monday following each of the five holidays in the pavilion. Previously, these five days were considered non-working days by government decisions. After Nikol Pashinyan came to power, this ‘tradition’ was eliminated. It seemed that this year would be an exception because, due to the authorities, we lost more than ten thousand people last year because of the war and coronavirus, and people should visit the graves of their loved ones to pay their respects. But these authorities ignored all of this. It’s hard to say whether they are doing all this deliberately or out of ignorance. However, the fact remains that Yerablur and our other resting places were multiplied, while the Feast of the Resurrection turned into a day of the dead…”, writes the newspaper “Pasta.”
