Man Shot and Killed in Vanadzor After Being Lured to His Home
On the morning of March 23, a body with gunshot wounds was taken to the hospital, belonging to a resident of Tumanyan Street in Vanadzor. The 37-year-old man was murdered in the yard of his building.
A criminal case was initiated in the Lori regional investigative department regarding the murder. Officers from the Taron division of the police undertook immediate measures to solve the particularly serious crime with fresh evidence.
As a result of a complex of investigative measures, several circumstances that were crucial for the investigation were clarified, as well as the identity of the person who allegedly committed the crime. Evidence was gathered confirming that the murder was carried out by a 35-year-old resident of Shahumyan village in Lori province.
He had driven to the victim's yard in his "Toyota" vehicle, called him out, and then shot him with a hunting rifle, unlawfully depriving him of life. The motive was revenge, specifically for a car accident that occurred the previous day.
On March 22, the 37-year-old man had driven his "BMW" out of the traffic lane on the Vanadzor-Dilijan road, collided with a tree, and fell into a nearby ravine. One of the passengers, who was the nephew of the suspect, died in the accident, prompting the suspect to seek revenge against the driver.
Following educational work, the suspect turned himself in to the Lori regional investigative department on March 28. Subsequent operations resulted in detectives discovering a hidden firearm in one of the houses in Bazum village.
The 35-year-old man has been arrested and transferred to a correctional facility.
