Aliyev Again Presents Demands Regarding Zangezur
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has once again presented demands regarding Zangezur, referring to it as "an ancient land of Azerbaijan." According to him, "active work is being carried out concerning the Zangezur corridor."
“Now, Azerbaijan's ancient land, Zangezur, will play a role in uniting the Turkic world. The transportation, communication, and infrastructure projects going through Zangezur will unite the entire Turkic world, as well as create additional opportunities for other countries, including Armenia,” said Aliyev during a speech at the unofficial summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States, as reported by Interfax-Azerbaijan.
Pointing out that currently Armenia has no railway connection with its ally Russia, he stated that "this connection can be established through Azerbaijani territory. Armenia also has no railway connection with neighboring Iran. This connection can also be provided through Nakhchivan.”
Aliyev also mentioned that a new transportation corridor will be created through Nakhchivan, connecting Turkey and Central Asia with Europe. “Azerbaijan has already initiated this work. I am confident that partner countries will also benefit from these opportunities,” he added.
According to him, “there is no longer a territorial entity called ‘Nagorno-Karabakh.’ Azerbaijan has resolved this issue, achieved a historic victory, and has begun reconstruction work in the devastated areas.”
