Conditions for Lifting Curfew Discussed in Georgia

In the past day, for the first time since February, Georgia has recorded a significant increase in coronavirus infections, with 673 cases reported. The rate of positive tests has also risen. This was announced by Alik Media.

In response, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has instructed relevant agencies during an intergovernmental council meeting to tighten control over preventive measures.

At the same time, the government is considering possible options to ease the nighttime movement restrictions. According to a statement from the government’s press service, the coordinating council is prepared to discuss the possibility of lifting the curfew if the epidemiological situation remains stable.

Residents have been urged to adhere to preventive requirements, avoid crowded places, wear masks, maintain distance, and refrain from organizing mass events that are prohibited by the government.

It should be noted that the curfew in Georgia has been in effect since November 2020, initially from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and was later extended by one hour due to a worsening epidemiological situation. A fine of 2000 lari is imposed for being outdoors after 9:00 PM without special permission.
