Why aren’t road markings being carried out? What did the deputy minister say?

According to the "Zhoghovurd" daily, it turns out that road markings in Yerevan should be carried out not by the Yerevan municipality, but by the Traffic Police, yet we do not see any work being done.

Yesterday, independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan raised a question in Parliament to the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan. "Since we cannot direct questions to the Yerevan mayor in the National Assembly, I am curious to ask you, as the authorized body: people are driving in Yerevan with visual memory; there are no road markings. In spring, they say we'll do it in autumn; in autumn, they say we'll do it in spring."

In response to the question, the deputy minister said he would answer later. The MP declared she would impatiently await the answer to understand which agency is at fault for the absence of road markings.

Yesterday, "Zhoghovurd" also tried to clarify with the independent MP what the response was from the Ministry of Territorial Administration regarding whose negligence is causing the lack of road markings. "Vache Terteryan told me that the Traffic Police should carry out these works. That’s what they were told by the Yerevan municipality," the MP stated.

"Zhoghovurd" also attempted to inquire from the chief of the Traffic Police, Egor Karapetyan, why the road marking works are not being conducted; however, he did not respond to our phone calls. We have also submitted a written inquiry and will await a response.
