Government Rejects Proposal to Waive Fines for Not Wearing Masks

The government has rejected the proposal by Armenian National Congress deputy Armen Yeghiazaryan to waive fines imposed for not wearing masks, despite the fact that these fines were applied in violation of citizens' fundamental rights.

In this regard, Armen Yeghiazaryan wrote on his Facebook page: “Dear compatriots, I would like to remind you that on February 22 of this year, I appealed to the Prime Minister with a proposal to apply amnesty for citizens fined for not wearing masks in the context of Covid-19. Today I received a rejection from the government, regardless of the fact that the fines were imposed in violation of citizens' fundamental rights (there are numerous court rulings on this matter). The government suggests that citizens contest the fines imposed with significant violations of the law by them in court. Dear citizens, once again we witnessed the government's indifference towards the people.”
