On March 24, around 08:00, the police received a report from the Abovyan Medical Center regarding a citizen transported to them with a diagnosis of "cranioencephalic trauma, subdural hematoma, and cerebral coma."
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Kotayk division of the police headed to the hospital. They discovered that the injured individual was 25-year-old Gegham Khalatyan, a resident of the Geghard village in Kotayk region. Khalatyan's mother informed the police that her son had been beaten near the 'GAI' supermarket located close to the well-known 'GAI post' on the Yerevan-Sevan highway. Doctors informed the police that Khalatyan was unable to provide any explanation about the incident, and while the doctors fought for his life, officers from the Kotayk division's criminal investigation department determined that Khalatyan had been assaulted by Nar Hajn residents 45-year-old Ghevond Davtyan, 42-year-old Vigen Shirinyan, and two individuals whose identities are still unknown.
Hours later, thanks to operational investigation efforts, police and investigators from the Abovyan office found out that on the same day, at around 01:00, two individuals entered the 'GAI' supermarket, one of whom argued with Khalatyan, who, according to G. Shamshyan, works as a cashier. This led to a scuffle, during which another 2-3 people entered the store, and the fight continued. According to G. Shamshyan, Khalatyan lost consciousness, fell to the ground, and one of the participants kicked him in the head. Following this incident, those involved broke some items in the store and left.
According to operational data received at the Kotayk division, the brawl involved the supermarket's manager Vardges, Edward, Garik, and Benon. Hours later, police and investigators identified the unknown individuals as Nar Hajn residents V. Shirinyan, G. Davtyan, 42-year-old Artak Ohanyan, and 40-year-old Arman Mirzoyan. The police and the investigative division are taking necessary operational measures to locate these individuals.
According to reports, on the same day at noon, a 37-year-old resident of Verin Ptghni village, Vardges Hovsepyan, contacted the Kotayk police, stating that he was the manager of the 'GAI' supermarket. He reported that at around 01:15 the same day, during the fight in his supermarket, one of the unknown individuals had stolen a gold chain weighing approximately 68 grams from his neck and then fled. According to G. Shamshyan, thanks to operational investigative measures, the identity of the suspect who stole the gold chain from the manager has been established.
