Vandalism at the Holy Mother of God Church in Nor Nork
This morning, a theft occurred at the Holy Mother of God Church in Nor Nork. The information was provided to LURER.com by Father Ashot Safaryan.
“We learned this morning that the statue of a journalist, consecrated in 2015, has been vandalized in the church yard. It was broken around 5:00 AM; first, they damaged the camera aimed at the statue and then broke its feet and took it away,” said Father Ashot.
The priest believes that the vandalism was committed for metal purposes. “It could either be bronze or copper; we are now trying to determine what material it specifically is. The statue was installed to appreciate the work and mission of the journalist right in the church yard, and today we are witnessing such vandalism. Taking advantage of the 2-hour absence of the doorkeeper, they approached and damaged the statue,” he explained.
Father Ashot noted that nothing was taken from the church since the door was locked. “We filed a report at the police station, and I am supposed to go for questioning in a few hours. This needs to be publicly condemned,” the priest emphasized.
