Fatal Hit-and-Run in Ejmiatsin Claims the Life of General Manvel Grigoryan's Brother-in-Law
Today, on March 25, a fatal hit-and-run incident occurred in the Armavir region. Shortly after midnight, a driver of an unspecified vehicle struck a pedestrian on the Ejmiatsin-Margar road at the 2nd km, resulting in the death of 58-year-old Ashot Amiryan, a resident of Yerevan, according to shamshyan.com.
Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports that the victim died at the scene, while the driver fled the scene. Traffic police officers from the 1st platoon of the 2nd patrol battalion arrived promptly, led by platoon commander Grigor Poghosyan and squad commander Marlen Sargsyan.
The operational group of the Vagharchapat police department, headed by department chief Rafael Poghosyan, also arrived at the scene. The information about the incident was relayed to the Armavir regional investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia by the responsible officer of the Traffic Control Center, Ervand Aleksanyan. An investigative team was dispatched, led by investigator Gevorg Gabrielyan, specializing in significant cases, to initiate a criminal case under Article 242 Part 2 and Article 244 Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.
Police and investigative divisions are collaborating on operational-search and investigative actions to locate the driver and the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. According to G. Shamshyan's information, the victim was the brother-in-law of General Manvel Grigoryan's wife, Nazik Amiryan.
