Doctor Slaps Minor Son: Complaint Accepted for Investigation

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an inquiry to clarify all circumstances surrounding the intentional infliction of minor harm on the health of a minor boy at the "Norq-Maarash" medical center.

On March 17, 2021, at 16:35, a citizen reported that on the same day, at 14:30, in the presence of his wife, one of the doctors at the "Norq-Maarash" medical center slapped their minor son, causing physical pain to the child and severe emotional distress to his wife.

To determine the nature and severity of the bodily injuries inflicted on the child, a forensic medical examination has been commissioned during the preparatory proceedings. According to the expert's conclusion, the child sustained soft tissue contusions, abrasions, and closed cranial injuries to the right side of his face, inflicted by a blunt, hard object, resulting in minor harm with a short-term disorder.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Central Division of the Yerevan Police based on Article 117 of the RA Criminal Code (intentional infliction of minor harm to health), which has been forwarded to the Investigative Committee’s main department for particularly important cases and accepted for investigation. A pre-investigation is underway.
