Tsarukyan Says June 13 Is Not a Good Date, Therefore They Decided on June 20
In their latest brief meeting, Nikol Pashinyan and Gagik Tsarukyan discussed the possibility of elections. Tsarukyan reiterated his intention to talk about Pashinyan's resignation while Pashinyan responded that they should prepare for elections and agree not to nominate any candidates, deciding on a date instead.
We previously reported that there were considerations to schedule elections on either the first or second Sunday of June, specifically June 6 or June 13. The reason behind this is that Pashinyan is slated to travel to Moscow on April 7 for a meeting with Putin. In the event of resignation, even if he were to serve as Acting Prime Minister, Putin would not accept him. Therefore, Pashinyan needs to be a fully functioning Prime Minister that day, which means he can only resign after the trip, followed by a second resignation two weeks later. This is why June 6 was ruled out.
As for June 13, Tsarukyan disagreed, stating that the number 13 is considered unlucky, so they have settled on June 20 instead. This was reported by the newspaper 'Hraparak.'
