Artak Davtyan Appointed as Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces
Guided by the provisions of the Constitution and the law on the "Military Service and Status of Servicemen," the Prime Minister submitted a proposal to the President of the Republic on March 10, 2021, to appoint Artak Davtyan as the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, accompanied by a draft decree.
On March 11, 2021, the objections to the aforementioned draft were submitted to the Prime Minister's office by the President of the Republic.
The objections presented by the President were not accepted by the Prime Minister, and a letter with the relevant justifications was sent to the President on the same day.
Taking into account the fact that the President of the Republic did not sign the draft presented by the Prime Minister within the timeframes stipulated in paragraph 3 of article 35.1 of the law on the "Military Service and Status of Servicemen," and did not appeal to the Constitutional Court, and guided by paragraph 3 of article 139 of the Constitution, as well as paragraph 6 of article 35.1 of the mentioned law, starting from March 22, 2021, Artak Davtyan is legally considered to be appointed as the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces.
