“Hey, Instructors, the Velvet is Over”: The Deputy Mayor of Avan Insults Both the Ombudsman and Journalists

The Deputy Mayor of Avan, Nerses Poghosyan, made yet another inappropriate statement on his Facebook page today, March 20, addressing the Ombudsman’s reaction to the incident between Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan and journalist Paylak Fahradyan. He insulted both the Ombudsman and the journalists.

“Hey, instructors, what language should we use for you to understand that the velvet has ended, it's over. You took it for so long like you were blind; it's over. When we used to say not to confuse velvet with weakness, you didn’t understand. Now, for some reason, whomever you give a paternal slap to gets offended. Hey, Tatoyan (Ombudsman), why didn’t you condemn your broken tongue’s calls for the 17+ on any day?” Poghosyan wrote.

He also made inappropriate remarks towards journalists, accusing them of being order-takers. According to him, the Ombudsman does not condemn the alleged behavior of journalists who he claims serve the 17’s orders, but instead condemns the minister: “You are not the Ombudsman; you are the 17 Ombudsman.”

It is worth noting that Nerses Poghosyan is known for his inappropriate vocabulary in his posts. He frequently finds himself at the center of scandals on various occasions.

Recall that prior to being appointed as Deputy Mayor of Avan, Nerses Poghosyan was undergoing trial as a defendant in the case of 'Zhirayr Sefilyan and Others.'
