Sputnik Armenia: It is known how and when Gazprom will start supplying gas to Armenia through Azerbaijan

Russian gas has been arriving in Armenia via Azerbaijani territory since yesterday. This route will operate from March 18 to April 15 and is related to the implementation of repair works on the "North Caucasus-Caucasus" main gas pipeline. The information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the press service of Gazprom Armenia in response to an official inquiry.

The company emphasized that the supply of Russian gas is carried out within the framework of the contract signed between Gazprom Export LLC and Gazprom Armenia LLC.

“According to the terms of the contract, Gazprom Armenia LLC receives natural gas at the 'Red Bridge' gas metering station located in Georgia. There have been no changes in that section. The planning of the natural gas transportation route to the 'Red Bridge' gas metering station is not within the jurisdiction of Gazprom Armenia LLC,” the response stated.

The company noted that, according to information received from Gazprom Export LLC, the change in the transportation route of Russian gas through Georgia is related to the execution of repair works and fulfillment of contractual obligations for the supply of natural gas to Armenia.

As for the reserves of natural gas in Armenia, according to the report, they are strategic in nature, used to regulate daily and seasonal imbalances in gas receipt and sales, as well as in case of emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances, and are not calculated to cover supplies of such volumes.

It should be noted that Gazprom Export LLC announced on March 17 that Russian gas would temporarily reach Armenia via Azerbaijani territory. According to that announcement, after the completion of planned preventive works on the Russian section of the North Caucasus-Caucasus pipeline, gas will be supplied through the previous route. At the time of publication of this information, the Georgian Gas Transportation Company (GGTC) had no information. The information has received a serious public-political response.
