Grigor Minasyan Responds: Mikayel Minasyan's Brother's Office to Defend Pashinyan's Interests in Court
Earlier, it was reported that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has filed a lawsuit against Zarouhi Postanjyan. According to hraparak.am, Pashinyan's interests in court will be defended by the law office of Grigor Minasyan, Mikayel Minasyan's brother, represented by attorney David Hunanian.
The media outlet contacted Grigor Minasyan to inquire whether it was Pashinyan who approached the firm, considering that Mikayel Minasyan is one of Pashinyan's fiercest political opponents. “Naturally, they have approached us, and there can be no obstacle; we provide services to many companies, numerous individuals, and public officials without any personal considerations unless there is a conflict of interest with a specific client. We provide our services,” Minasyan said.
We asked if it seemed strange to him that the Prime Minister had approached their organization. “I am very pleased that today, the most important profession is that of a lawyer, as the law and rights are very significant today, and people who hold high public office or positions turn to the best service providers. I believe we are one of them, and it is not surprising at all that they have approached us,” Grigor Minasyan noted in an interview with the media.
It is worth mentioning that the relationship between Mikayel and Grigor Minasyan has been tense in recent years, and it appears that this context influenced Pashinyan's decision to turn to Mikayel Minasyan's brother's firm.
Recall that Nikol Pashinyan has filed a lawsuit against Zarouhi Postanjyan, demanding the public denial of factually defamatory statements and compensation for damages due to defamation. The basis for Pashinyan's request stems from Postanjyan's statement in an interview at the “Hayeli” club on February 8, 2021: “His dream has been; he has written back in 2008 that he and his wife were dreaming of handing over those lands. In other words, these people have written about this, they have been gathered under this pretext, and they have received funds for conducting that transaction. Therefore, where should I go with these people? But the most important issue is that regarding these people, their agency status was also accessible to the previous government. Therefore, why did that previous government bring this person and put him in parliament?”
