Extensive Ruling on Onik Gasparyan's Case Published by Court

Human rights defender Ruben Melikyan wrote on his Facebook page: "The news published last night on Mediaport has been confirmed. The partial disruption of the 'Datalex' system was resolved in the morning, and here we see the extensive ruling on the protective measures applied by the court in the O. Gasparyan case (the concluding part is attached). I must not deceive my conscience and publicly admit that the independence of the judiciary has been subjected to qualitative completion from quantitative expansion precisely during the Nikol Pashinyan regime — with the logic of 'what does not kill us makes us stronger.' The judges have profoundly and, I hope, irreversibly realized that they are not merely representatives of the next state system, but the carriers and practitioners of an independent branch of power. This branch of power is called to counterbalance and balance the 'political' branches of power — the Legislative and the Executive — and is capable of fulfilling that role with honor and quality.

Why did this happen in the courts? Because (1) there were authorities inside who took the first and very heavy blows and did not falter or kneel, (2) since 1997, dozens of people — genuine reformers, educators, scholars, judicial administrators, lawyers, indeed judges — who were unseen, unpublicized, but steadfast and purposeful, have been working towards the establishment of truly independent courts. And behold, the garden that was planted and nurtured is bearing fruit."
