Alen Simonyan on Ter-Petrosyan's Statement
I believe that the first president has entered into a competition with Vazgen Manukyan. I don't know what this is based on, perhaps stemming from the events of 1996. This was stated by Alen Simonyan during a conversation with reporters regarding Levon Ter-Petrosyan's proposal about Nikol Pashinyan's resignation.
“Respecting the person of the first president, I do not want to continue commenting. I can only say that Mr. Ter-Petrosyan's recent statement was absurd,” he said.
Regarding Ter-Petrosyan's suggestion specifically about the elections, Simonyan expressed the opinion that Ter-Petrosyan should first discuss his assessment of the elections of 1996, the events that followed those elections regarding Vazgen Manukyan, and his role during those events, before making impactful statements. He added, “When you have a significant problem regarding the 1996 elections, then you resign and do not leave for another country to seek asylum, it would not be right to evaluate the situation now.”
