Levon Ter-Petrosyan Joined the Goals of 17 Forces with His Statement: Andranik Kocharyan
The first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, joined the goals of the extra-parliamentary 17 forces with his statement. This opinion was expressed by Andranik Kocharyan, a deputy from the 'My Step' faction, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, commenting on Ter-Petrosyan's announcement.
He specifically noted that the only way out, benefiting the state, the people, and also Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan personally, is the immediate and voluntary resignation of the Prime Minister, with legal guarantees of immunity provided by the National Assembly, along with his potential temporary residence abroad.
“In my opinion, Levon Ter-Petrosyan has responded to the points raised by Vazgen Manukyan. The only exit he proposed is unrealistic, as the first president is driven by the motivation that he resigned at the demand of known forces. However, I believe that in the role of those known forces, Pashinyan has primary legitimacy, which leads him to propose early elections,” said Kocharyan, adding that it is the first time he has seen the viewpoints of Vazgen Manukyan and Ter-Petrosyan coincide.
According to him, today everyone is hanging on the 'skirts' of the Armed Forces and wants to see the upper command of the Armed Forces in the role of known forces.
Kocharyan noted that political solutions are needed to exit the crisis by taking the constitutional path.
When asked whether he thinks Ter-Petrosyan is collaborating with Vazgen Manukyan, Kocharyan replied that no, the first president has always acted independently.
