There are no issues on the Tavush border, these were false reports. Haik Chobanyan
There are no issues on the Tavush border, these were false reports, and the security situation is the same as it was 1 or 2 years ago. This was assured by Tavush Governor Haik Chobanyan in an interview with News.am.
The commander of the 3rd Army Corps ensuring the security of the Tavush borders, General Grigori Khachaturov, had made a statement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. When asked whether there is a contradiction between the concerns of the political and military authorities, with you not seeing border issues while senior military officials have serious concerns, Chobanyan responded:
“That statement was not new, if we consider the statement of the Armed Forces General Staff, which Mr. Khachaturov also signed. Those statements have nothing to do with the defense of our borders and the specific duties carried out by the Armed Forces. There has been no statement in the context you mentioned,” said Haik Chobanyan.
He did not wish to comment on the motives behind the senior military officials’ statements, adding that he sees no issue regarding the fulfillment of the 3rd Army Corps’ obligations. “Moreover, all works are being carried out at a high level. I have met with the commander of the 3rd Army Corps regarding the informational hype of recent days. I have no concerns in this regard,” he noted.
