Where Did the Large Number of Newly Printed Banknotes Come From
Recently, there have been frequent reports about a large number of newly printed, fresh banknotes entering circulation. Some attribute this to the 44-day war, with rumors circulating that a significant amount of money has been left in ATMs in Artsakh or has disappeared under unclear circumstances.
In response to our inquiry regarding whether new banknotes have been printed recently, the spokesperson for the Central Bank, Harutyun Kbeyan, stated: 'In 2018, when the third generation of banknotes entered circulation, there has been no printing since then.' However, could it be that no new printing has occurred, but banknotes from the reserve fund have been put into circulation? The spokesperson denied this as well.
