Authorities Nominate Another 'Former Official' for Position: 'Hraparak'

The current government, driven by a fierce campaign against 'former officials', has nominated another such individual, Gegham Hovhannisyan, as a candidate for a member of the Audit Chamber. Hovhannisyan is a long-time official of the Chamber of Control (now the Audit Chamber) and previously ran as a candidate for parliament in the 2017 elections under the Republican Party's proportional list for his native Gegharkunik region.

On the previous day, the permanent commission on financial and credit issues of the National Assembly approved Hovhannisyan's candidacy, and it has been added to the agenda of the upcoming meetings. Gegham Hovhannisyan was born in Vardenik village of Martuni region and has held various high positions within the Audit Chamber; in 2017, he was the head of the community supervision department of the Chamber.
