There Are Many Skillful Girls Using Sexual Insults: Alen Simonian

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian wrote on his Facebook page: "Despite the uproar about the publication of personal phone numbers of politicians, this phenomenon has existed for a long time. My number was published back at the end of the war while I was in Moscow. Thankfully, modern devices allow me to limit almost all types of unknown calls and messages, but naturally, in some cases, a contact does occur. A few times during these 4 months, I decided to call back from numbers that bothered me to understand what kind of people they were. I must say that about 30% of the calls are supportive, which is quite pleasant. Of these calls, 80% are from Russia, 10% from the USA, 5% from Armenia, and 5% from elsewhere. Mostly, my calls weren’t answered, they were disconnected; twice, elderly women answered and confirmed their negative stance, and we parted relatively peacefully.

A young person called from a number registered in the USA, speaking in a dialect from Artsakh. He said he was from the Detroit community, and when I asked why he wasn't here, he started spitting out insults at a rapid pace, in a mix of half-Russian and half-Armenian. It's a sad observation that there are many 'patriotic' girls who are very skillful at offering sexual insults. There are interesting users in phone apps: Volki, ARMAN’s cross sign, the infinity symbol, another cross, a picture of Karen vosmikanetsnik, and again, under the name Karen. Well, anyway… Now, even though 90% of those numbers are Russian speakers, I am sure some will familiarize themselves with this text. They should at least learn Armenian before indulging in patriotic outbursts, it would be useful.

Firstly, I am surprised that a person's upbringing allows them to call an unknown person or send a message. Then, I wonder, do they realize that someone with a name of Armenian descent is using them like puppets for their narrow personal purposes? Generating hatred, concocting some stories, and after conditioning them, directing their aggression. I am sure if you ask that individual why they do this, they won't be able to give a clear answer. But they threaten to kill and describe frightening scenarios. And again, how do they not understand that those who are giving them these commands are not doing them any favors, either for themselves or for any other famous person? Next, honestly, if all these figures are so combative and powerful, why don’t they call or send messages to the Azerbaijanis in Russia, to the Azerbaijani lobbyists, to businessmen, etc.? Should I tell you why? I believe you’ve guessed it.

But now they allow themselves to call me or, let’s say, my female parliamentary colleagues. It’s interesting that before the revolution led by me and my friends in 2018, very few people would have taken the risk to call an official; their heads would have been broken. And I fought so that such things would not happen. Tell me what absurdity it sounds like when you are a nation that has survived genocide, with only 2,500,000 of you left, surrounded by enemies, and immediately after the war, you start to destroy yourselves. To turn yourself into an enemy towards another representative of your own nation. Sitting in Moscow, Pskov, or Los Angeles, you call another Armenian and hate, insult them, saying you will kill them.

I know who organizes such things, how much money is being spent for all this to incite people, to turn an Armenian against another Armenian. I was not afraid when those order givers had complete power in Armenia, and now that the people have put their foot on the neck of that serpent, I’m no longer interested in its writhing and the venom it’s spewing as it tries to save itself. It’s time for us to understand that as long as we—one in Pskov, another in Yerevan—are threatening each other over the phone, as long as we aren’t united in not having an enemy among Armenians, we will always lose, and we almost have no options left for avoiding these losses.
