The Republican Stage of the Olympiad Concluded: Winners to Receive Named Scholarships

From February 19 to March 9, 2021, the republican stage of subject Olympiads for schoolchildren for the 2020-2021 academic year was held in six subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, Biology, Geography, and Chemistry. A total of 643 students participated in the Olympiad, of which 30 received first-degree diplomas, 32 received second-degree diplomas, and 74 received third-degree diplomas. Additionally, 119 students were awarded certificates of appreciation.

The list of winners who will receive named scholarships has been approved by the decree of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia. Scholarships are allocated according to the regulation approved by the Minister’s decree dated September 3, 2020.

According to this regulation, if a student qualifies for scholarships on two or three grounds simultaneously, they may receive an amount equivalent to the total of these scholarships. The named scholarship is provided to students through their educational institutions on an annual basis, and in case of termination of studies at the given institution, the unpaid portion of the annual scholarship is paid to the student in a lump sum.

The new regulation for granting named scholarships to encourage students has been in effect since January 1, 2020. The following scholarship amounts have been established for winners of subject Olympiads:

• For participants of international subject Olympiads: First-degree diploma holders receive 25,000 AMD per month, second-degree diploma holders receive 20,000 AMD per month, and third-degree diploma holders receive 15,000 AMD per month. Other participants in the final phases receive 10,000 AMD per month.
• For participants in other international school Olympiads (such as the Zhautykov International Olympiad and the Mendeleev International Olympiad): First-degree diploma holders receive 15,000 AMD per month, second-degree diploma holders receive 10,000 AMD per month, and third-degree diploma holders receive 7,500 AMD per month.
• For winners of the Republican subject Olympiads: First-degree diploma holders receive 10,000 AMD per month, second-degree diploma holders receive 7,500 AMD per month, and third-degree diploma holders receive 5,000 AMD per month.
