Several Roads Closed Due to Blizzard Conditions
The Road Department of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia informs that as of 20:00 on March 12, snowfall is occurring in the regions of Vanadzor, Dilijan, Aragats, Stepanavan, Sevan, and Goris.
Due to severe blizzard conditions and lack of visibility, the Vardenyats Pass, Ttujur-Navur, Gndevaz-Jermuk, Tatev-Aghvani, and Zovashen-Sevaberd roads are closed for all types of vehicles. The Dilijan twists are closed to vehicles with trailers.
The Goris-Sisian and Goris-Kapan routes are difficult to pass for vehicles with trailers. Due to the blizzard, the Karakhach-Lusashogh section and Sisian roads are also difficult to navigate.
Blizzard conditions are reported in the regions of Aparan, Sevan (from Tsovagyugh to Shorja), and the Meghri Pass. In the Gavar area and on the Vanadzor-Dilijan and Horom-Artik-Alagyaz roads, there are areas of black ice.
All other interstate and republican roads remain open. Road construction workers are carrying out snow removal and treatment with salt and sand on the roads.
“Dear drivers, we urge you to be cautious, strictly adhere to traffic regulations, and drive only with winter tires,” the message from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure states.
