Woman Gives Birth to Female Baby, But Newborn Dies; Criminal Case Initiated

On March 7, 2021, at 19:10, the "Noyemberyan Medical Center" notified the Police Department of Noyemberyan about the death of a female newborn in the gynecological department shortly after birth.

Based on this report, it was established that on March 7, at 12:00, a 22-year-old resident of the Lori region was admitted to the gynecological department of the "Noyemberyan Medical Center" where she gave birth to a female baby, but the newborn unfortunately died.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated at the Noyemberyan investigative division of the Tavush regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 130, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code (failure to perform or improper performance of professional duties by medical assistance providers).

During the preliminary investigation, necessary investigative and procedural actions have been carried out: the woman’s birth history has been collected from the hospital, an external examination of the body has been conducted, forensic examinations have been appointed, and interviews have been conducted. The investigation is ongoing.
