General Onik Gasparyan Does Not Intend to Retreat or Resign, Tigran Abrahamyan
The Prime Minister's office has issued a statement referencing several circumstances, stating that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces is considered dismissed from his position. This information was shared on Facebook by Tigran Abrahamyan, the former spokesperson for the President of Artsakh.
He specifically noted, “The Prime Minister is making uncertain moves aimed at undermining the fundamental and still-standing pillars of our statehood. However, General Gasparyan, to put it mildly, does not agree with this decision from a national, legislative, political, and moral perspective and does not intend to retreat or resign.
Can the Prime Minister expect the Chief of the General Staff to step down without serious concessions? Of course not. Even if an attempt is made to appoint a new Chief of the General Staff, the staff will not obey them as long as they have not been urged to do so by Onik Gasparyan.
I do not know if the authorities will force any military personnel to take on this position by asking, coercing, negotiating, or perhaps using kompromat, but the fact is that such a person cannot uphold the military’s authority and simply put, cannot command it. In plain language, the path chosen by the authorities leads the army and the state towards collapse, which structures, figures, and the nation as a whole must counteract, having realized this.”
