Aliyev Will Manipulate the Prisoner Issue Until He Takes Yerevan: Tevan Poghosyan

The issue of prisoners will not resolve itself. This was stated today by political scientist Tevan Poghosyan during a meeting with journalists.

“They have started to manipulate the prisoner issue in a very interesting way, saying, 'Let's talk about something; the problem will not be solved.' The issue of prisoners will not resolve itself. We either need to create such a stockpile of prisoners that Azerbaijan will be forced to exchange everyone, or we must establish such a global sanctions environment against Azerbaijan that it attempts to return them; otherwise, it will not. Why would they return them? Aliyev wants Zangezur and claims that Yerevan is also his. Until he takes Yerevan, he will be dragging these issues around,” he said.

Poghosyan noted that at present, we have not been able to organize our paths in such a way that Azerbaijanis do not have the opportunity to create a new stockpile of prisoners; on the contrary, we should be able to do so.

“Does the government consider that the war has ended? Did they not say that a ceasefire means that the war has not ended? You are intimidating us with war, manipulating that for what?” he remarked.

In Poghosyan's opinion, it will only be possible to throw a glance toward the future on the day the current authorities resign.
