Second Round of Selection for Ruben Vardazaryan Expected to be ‘Destructive’

The second round of voting for the selection of a judge for the Court of Cassation is set to take place. According to Article 143, Part 6 of the Constitutional Law on the Rules of the National Assembly, if none of the candidates are elected, a second round is held with the top two candidates from the first round.

Recall that last week, the National Assembly made a demarche against Vardazaryan and did not elect him as a judge of the Court of Cassation. According to Makunts, ‘My Step’ was expressing its position towards Ruben Vardazaryan, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, who had nominated Samvel Grigoryan, Armen Haykyants, and Arsen Mkrtchyan for the vacant position of judge of the Civil and Administrative Court of Cassation.

One of the candidates, Samvel Grigoryan, has withdrawn his candidacy.
