Protesters Block Access to Armenian President's Residence
During an opposition rally held today on Baghramyan Avenue, the "Homeland Salvation Movement" candidate for Prime Minister, Vazgen Manukyan, issued public instructions leading to the blockade of the second entrance to the National Assembly. Previously, the Baghramyan pass entry was closed.
Currently, the entrance from Demirchyan Street is also blocked. ARF representative Ishkhan Saghatelyan announced that lawmakers must now enter the National Assembly only through their proposed agenda. Protesters have also set up new tents near the entrance to the National Assembly from Demirchyan Street. At this moment, this street is closed as well.
It is known that the residence of Armenian President Armen Sarkissian is adjacent to Demirchyan Street. Thus, it turns out that the protesters have also blocked the access to the president's residence; Armen Sarkissian can only return home via Proshyan Street, essentially through a back entrance.
