Naira Zohrabyan and Colleagues Form Human Shield Between Police and Activists
In Yerevan's Demirchyan Street, opposition MPs stood between the police and supporters of the opposition to prevent clashes.
“We have decided to stand between them to prevent bloodshed,” said Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia faction. She was joined by fellow faction members Arman Abovyan and Mikayel Melkumyan. Representatives from the Republican Party of Armenia, including Khosrov Harutyunyan and Eduard Sharmazanov, were also present. Meanwhile, Vazgen Manukyan, the leader of the Homeland Salvation Movement, observed the developments from the opposition's ranks.
The protesters also aimed to build barricades using trash bins, and they have already placed several bins in front of the police.
A concentration of police forces has been noted.
