Due to the Order of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, a Group of 60 People has Disappeared: Details
The newspaper 'Jgarhank' reported that Andranik Makaryan, the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, is included as a suspect in a criminal case being investigated by the Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Makaryan is one of four military personnel who did not join the statement of Chief of Staff Onik Gasparyan and other military officials demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Although the prosecutor's office did not provide details in response to 'Jgarhank's' inquiry regarding what exactly Makaryan did to end up in the defendant's chair, some information has emerged.
Specifically, Makaryan gave specific instructions to a group of over 60 troops during wartime, which led to a significant portion of the unit going missing without any trace, and to this day, their whereabouts remain unknown, with some having fled.
Essentially, the preliminary investigation body has identified the mysterious disappearance of the 60-person unit as the fault of Deputy Chief of Staff Makaryan. There are suspicions that Makaryan was aware he was sending the unit to a certain death, yet despite this, he assigned them a task which turned out to be fatal for many.
It is noteworthy that after all this, Makaryan's name is being circulated as a potential successor to Onik Gasparyan.
