Construction of Varanda Airport to Serve as Military Base Against Russia and Iran, Says Vardan Voskanyan
In analyses regarding the construction of the Varanda (Azerbaijani: Fizuli) airport, a crucial aspect seems to have been overlooked. Iranian studies expert Vardan Voskanyan noted on his Facebook page that, “At the end of February, the Azeri dictator literally declared that the 'runway will be able to accommodate all types of aircraft, including the heaviest and cargo planes,' which at first glance seems quite strange if we consider the claim that the airport is being built to supposedly facilitate visits to Shushi.
It is evident that the construction of an airport endowed with such capabilities is definitely aimed not at civilian, but rather at military purposes, which, taking into account the geographical and strategic significance of the area, will effectively turn it into a military base operating not only against Armenia and Artsakh but also against Russia and Iran.
Moreover, aside from Azerbaijan and Turkey, it may also be utilized by Israel and NATO for anti-Russian and anti-Iranian objectives.
History sometimes provides examples of absurdities; the former Russian fortification Karyaginon, which was conquered from Iran by the strength of Russian weaponry and named after Russian commander Pavel Karyagin, may now be employed against Russia and Iran by new 'masters' and 'guests.'
