Build a New Airport in Sevan to Boost Tourism: Proposal from the My Step Alliance

Weeks ago, during a meeting of the My Step Alliance in Tsakhkadzor, when it was decided that there is no public demand for snap elections, our information indicates that MP Hovik Aghazaryan urged his teammates to come up with new initiatives for development, to invigorate post-war life, and to serve as an example locally by presenting his proposal. That is, to build an airport in Sevan and boost tourism.

Aghazaryan told us yesterday that he has such an idea, explaining it as follows: “If the state takes on the issue of building a small airport, it would send a message to both domestic and foreign investors that a part of the Sevan basin can become a serious center for tourism development.”

Why Sevan? “Because we are not fully utilizing Sevan's potential; we only use it for 2-3 months, and even then not fully. Meanwhile, if the winter beauty is combined with hotels providing modern services, entertainment centers, swimming pools, and so on, it would be possible to utilize it all year round,” the MP stated.

According to him, the revenue generated through this could be directed towards “high-tech industries.” Aghazaryan emphasized that this is still in the idea stage, but he will attempt to give it an official structure and present it to the government soon.

This information was reported by the newspaper “Hayastani Hanrapetutyun.”
