The Burglary of Ashot Minasian's Home is Also an Assault on the Honor of the RA Armed Forces
Human rights defender Ruben Melikyan has addressed the burglary that took place at the parental home of Ashot Minasian, the commander of the Sisakhan detachment, on Facebook. During the burglary, medals awarded to Ashot Minasian and his brother during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War were stolen. Melikyan stated:
“This horrific crime leads to several conclusions:
- Ashot Minasian is a principled opponent of capitulation, therefore one of the main theories for the assault on his home must naturally be a politically motivated attack. If the crime is not solved in the shortest time possible, then each of us will have the full right to assert that the motive for the attack was indeed political.
- With this case, law enforcement agencies must prove that they continue to be entities involved in uncovering, disrupting, and preventing crimes and have not completely turned into 'capitulation censorship agencies.'
- The assault on Ashot Minasian's home resulted in the theft of his and his deceased brother's combat awards. Therefore, this is also an assault on the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and their honor and reputation.”
