Information on Russian Soldiers Present in the Boundaries of Azatamut and Kayaran is False

Information suggesting that Russian soldiers have been in the border areas of Azatamut and Kayaran does not correspond with reality. This was stated by journalist Voskian Sargsyan in an interview with Auroranews. He had previously shared pictures on his Facebook page, writing, "These photos were taken 2 days ago when a Russian military convoy was heading to Tavush province. According to information received from Ijevan, Russian soldiers are stationed in one of the military units in Ijevan. The reports that Russian soldiers have been in the border areas of Azatamut and Kayaran are false."

Notably, civil activist Ani Kaghinyan also wrote on Facebook, "In the Tavush province areas of Azatamut, Kayaran, and Barkhudarlu, around 500 Russian peacekeepers and Azerbaijanis have been conducting surveys along the borders for two days now. Why aren’t the media addressing this issue? Our lands are being given away, and the people of Tavush are left alone with our collective problem. Journalists, please go and find out what is happening at our borders; we are losing our state and statehood."

In connection with all this, calls made by Auroranews to Tavush governor Hayk Chobanyan went unanswered. Tomorrow being another non-working day, we will attempt to clarify with the Ministry of Defense of Armenia what mission the Russian soldiers are on in Tavush province, if indeed it is not a state secret.
