Sargis Kloyan Files Lawsuit Against Sayat Shirinyan
Sargis Kloyan, the father of Gorr Kloyan who was killed during the events of March 1, has filed a lawsuit against police reserve officer Sayat Shirinyan for compensation of damages to his honor and dignity. The lawsuit was submitted to the court on March 3 and was assigned to Judge Armen Danielyan of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court on the same day.
The reason for the lawsuit stems from Shirinyan's Facebook post on February 1, in which he stated that the events of March 1 have been exploited over the years, and participants in the mass disorder have been presented as 'peaceful' protesters. 'One of those 'peaceful' protesters was Sargis Kloyan's son, Gorr Kloyan. Yes, yes, the Sargis Kloyan who sold his son’s blood to Nikol for 30 million drams, yet did not give a single dram from that money to the family of his deceased son,' he wrote, highlighting that back in 2008, he held the position of head of the police’s public relations and information department. According to the operational data provided to him by the operational services, 'according to the operational data, Gorr Kloyan is using drugs, and it cannot be ruled out that he participated in the March 1 mass disorder while under the influence of drugs.' He emphasized that he personally spoke with the then Police Chief Hayk Harutyunyan and they decided to keep this fact from being published in order to avoid unnecessary tensions.
