Police Officers Awarded Bonuses Twice This Year for Active Participation in Protests

According to information received by the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," police employees have received bonuses twice this year for their active participation in public rallies and protests.

The newspaper submitted a written inquiry to the Police Department's press service, asking for details on how much bonus money police officers have received in recent months, when, and for what reasons.

In response to our inquiry, the press service of the Police Department stated that as of March 3, 2021, the employees of the Armenian Police were granted a monthly bonus amounting to 718,152,586 AMD for January. They also received a one-time monetary reward of 209,268,943 AMD, based on Article 22 (sections 9 and 10) of the Law on the remuneration of persons holding public offices and public service positions.

Thus, it appears that police officers were indeed rewarded twice—once for the month of January and once as a one-time bonus.
