I Believe the Game is in the Political Forces’ Field and It Must Be Implemented Properly: Abrahamyan

The head of the Analytical Center "Henaket" and former advisor to the President of Artsakh on security issues, Tigran Abrahamyan, made a post on his Facebook page regarding the situation in the country following the announcement of the Chief of the General Staff.

"The announcement by the Chief of the General Staff and its head about the situation created in the country and, consequently, the demands of the Prime Minister and the government has been discussed and interpreted from various perspectives. At the same time, different forces are trying to shape public demand for yet another move by the Chief of Staff, conditionally moving troops to the streets, up to the arrest/detention of key members of the current government and personally of Pashinyan.

I believe that the Armed Forces and personally Onik Gasparyan have done what was necessary at this moment by expressing a public position regarding the created situation in the country, as well as sending signals to the authorities, political forces, and the public about the urgent dangers threatening the country’s territorial integrity, inviolability, and statehood.

It is likely that until now, the high command of the military has had opportunities to convey the same through more comprehensive reports to the political leadership of the country. While not excluding the probability of the army taking a second step if the situation becomes critical, I believe the game is in the field of political forces and it should be properly implemented.

An exceptional situation has arisen in the country—the army is acting from the position of stability and the process of changes as smoothly as possible, while also assuming the role of an "arbitrator" and forcing the authorities to step out of their position of "beshpredelshchik" and move into the realm of legality.

On the other hand, the army urges other participants in the political field to find quick solutions directed towards a fair resolution of the situation, which will allow for radical changes and for the country to move along the path of stabilization and development.

The time is short for all participants in the political field; processes must be played out quickly but delicately, minimizing the influence of external actors on domestic political processes."
