Attempt to Destroy Military Equipment: Resident of Yeghvard Charged

The Investigative Committee of Armenia’s Kotayk Province has reported that in the course of the ongoing criminal investigation by the Nairi Investigative Division, several circumstances regarding the attempted destruction of military equipment acquired by members of a civilian initiative have been clarified.

According to the investigation, a 30-year-old resident of Yeghvard city tried to intentionally set ablaze military equipment valued at a total of 17,375,000 AMD, located on Azatamartikner Street in Yeghvard, on November 11, 2020, around 02:30 AM.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the individual was unable to carry out the act, as the fire ignited was noticed by citizens and was extinguished.

Based on sufficient evidence, the 30-year-old resident of Yeghvard has been charged under Article 34-185, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Attempt of intentional destruction or damage of property). He has been detained as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
