Video: Police Seize Several Kilograms of Opium and Heroin in Syunik; 4 Arrested
The Drug Trafficking Prevention Department of the Police and the Investigative Committee's Main Department for Human Trafficking, Protection of Minors' Sexual Integrity, and Drug Trafficking Offenses conducted operational investigative measures that led to obtaining information about the illegal circulation of particularly large quantities of heroin and opium.
This information was shared with the officers of the Syunik Region Police and the Meghri Division. As a result of coordinated and professional measures, on February 22, law enforcement authorities discovered 4 kilograms and 290 grams of heroin and 2 kilograms and 100 grams of opium on the road from Alvank village in the Syunik region to Shvanidzor. The drug packages were inside a sack, which was buried.
Further measures revealed the intended recipients of the drugs. The next day, on February 23, the Drug Trafficking Prevention Department's officers discovered and detained four individuals, one of whom is a foreign citizen. The detainees were presented to the pre-trial authority and were arrested. They are facing charges. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
