VIDEO: Illegal firearm and ammunition discovered, one person arrested

On February 25, officers from the Kanaker-Zeytun police department's juvenile affairs and family violence prevention unit obtained intelligence through operational and search measures, indicating that a resident of 2nd Street in Kanaker possessed illegal weapons and ammunition at home.

A criminal case was initiated. The information was conveyed to the department's criminal investigation unit. On February 27, a search was conducted at the residence following a court order. An unregistered firearm, magazines for both a firearm and a pistol, containers with gunpowder-like substances, detonators, smoke grenades, and 150 rounds of ammunition of various calibers and firearms were discovered and seized.

A 39-year-old man was taken into custody at the Kanaker-Zeytun precinct and arrested. Forensic and explosive technical examinations have been appointed. The circumstances are being clarified.
