The Authorities Are Actively Seeking a Chief of Staff Candidate: What Names Are Circulating

In the context of the events surrounding the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan, the authorities are currently discussing potential candidates for the position. Although the General Staff has directly indicated that there is no hope for Gasparyan's departure, the search for a successor is ongoing.

The first candidate was Andranik Mkrtchyan; however, due to compromising information and pressure on him, the most the authorities have been able to achieve is his non-participation in the General Staff's announcements. According to the "Fact" newspaper, Mkrtchyan has stated that he does not consider it moral to take the position after Onik Gasparyan. Furthermore, he has hinted that he will leave after the resolution of the situation.

The second candidate is currently Jalal Harutyunyan, the head of the Ministry of Defense's inspection service, although he has not yet definitively decided how to proceed in the current situation, and health issues are still preventing him from being fully engaged in his duties.

Yesterday, the name of former Chief of Staff Artak Davtyan was even circulating. According to our sources, another candidate being discussed at this moment is the commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, Lieutenant General Mikael Arzumanyan.
