Don’t Listen to Your Police Chief, He Will Ultimately Betray You and Flee: Hovhannes Tamamyan
ArmLur.am's interview with Hovhannes Tamamyan, former head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police of Armenia, and a general:
– Mr. Tamamyan, former police officers have issued a statement. Do you have anything to say?
– Of course, I do. First, I greet all my compatriots. As a concerned citizen who has never been involved in politics, but has worn the uniform for over 40 years, from private to general, I could not remain silent. I must contribute my share to help us escape this severe situation.
– Why should a police officer get involved in politics?
– No. The reason is simple: I have served my country and state wholeheartedly for 40 years, I have made a significant contribution to the uncovering of crimes, my surname is Tamamyan, and I have a calling. Dear police officers, I want to assure you that I am with you in spirit. I have never engaged in politics and have always stated that I serve my state as a public servant. I am a person who has always thought of every police officer; every officer I have worked with can testify to this. I have never left them alone in difficult situations over these 40 years. Now I confidently say: you can disobey your current police chief. You know well that he has expressed in his closed circle that he understands the risks of today. Please do not believe anything he says; in the end, he will betray all of you and flee, and you already understand where you will end up.
– You have been one of the pillars of the system during previous administrations, influential and strong, even a general known for violence. What is your message now—should orders not be obeyed?
– Yes, illegal orders should not be followed. Dear police officers, you know that today’s leaders have no homeland; their homeland is Soros. This group is heading for departure; we must stand together. Our past 40 years in the police system have been very difficult and painful, and we, regardless of our will, have found ourselves in various investigative bodies. Dear police officers, it has never mattered what kind of sympathy or desire we had; we have served everyone. Therefore, I once again urge and encourage you to be more rational. Think of yourselves and your families. Think about whom you are serving: serve a person who employs the entire system for himself and his family, serve a person who is insane, serve a person who has handed over our lands with a stroke of a pen, leaving thousands of families homeless and without a homeland; who does not engage in the retrieval of the bodies of the missing. The choice is yours. Dear police officers, but as someone who thinks and cares for you, serving this appointed police chief, tomorrow you will find yourselves at the Special Investigative Service and become victims of Nikol, whose blatant evidence is already clear to the Armenian people. I regret that you have the misfortune of serving the worst supreme land-cessionist of Armenia.
Dear police officers, you know that I am much better informed than you might suspect; I believe there are no doubts. Dear police officers, forgive me a thousand times for what is within me; I cannot speak more openly and transparently, as my experience and the path I’ve traveled do not allow it. I hope I was able to convey what I meant. I wish you good service at this moment. It is an honor.
