13 Years Since the Bloody Events of March 1
Today marks the 13th anniversary of the bloody events of March 1. Following allegations of fraud in the presidential elections of February 19, 2008, citizens organized round-the-clock peaceful gatherings. On the morning of March 1, the police used force against peaceful demonstrators.
The protests continued near the statue of Myasnikyan. In the center of Yerevan, 10 citizens were killed by police actions and gunfire, including two police officers. Approximately 200 individuals sustained injuries of varying severity.
