Artur Aleksanyan Withdraws from Bronze Medal Contention at Kyiv Tournament
In the traditional wrestling tournament ongoing in Kyiv, Olympic champion Artur Aleksanyan has withdrawn from the contest for the bronze medal due to injury, reports ArmSport.am.
After three victories, Aleksanyan lost in the semifinals. Initially, he defeated Ukrainian Andrey Degiatirov with a score of 8-0, then achieved a 7-0 victory over Algerian Adem Boujemli, and in the quarterfinals, he won 6-1 against Ukrainian Yevgeny Savetov.
In the semifinals, Artur faced Kyrgyz wrestler Uzur Dzhuzupbekov but unexpectedly lost 5-7, despite having been ahead 5-0 at one point.
Another representative of Armenia, 67 kg weight class Karen Aslanyan, will also not continue in the tournament due to injury.
