Mkhitaryan's Injury May Be More Serious Than Expected
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, midfielder for Roma and the Armenian national team, suffered an injury during the Europa League Round of 16 match against Shakhtar Donetsk (3-0) and was substituted at the end of the first half. Mkhitaryan has a calf muscle injury, but it may be more serious than anticipated.
Corriere dello Sport reports that last night, Mkhitaryan was seen at Roma's training base moving with the assistance of crutches. Today and tomorrow, the Armenian midfielder will undergo a thorough medical examination to assess the severity of the injury.
The initial impression is not positive. According to sources, Mkhitaryan may return to the field only in early April, after the international break. This means he could miss Armenia's upcoming matches in the World Cup qualifiers against Iceland and Romania, scheduled for late March.
This is not Mkhitaryan's first injury this season.
