My joy multiplied tenfold when I saw how everyone at home celebrated my victory. Tevanyan speaks on his triumph after defeating Azerbaijani wrestler
Member of the Armenian freestyle wrestling team, Vazgen Tevanyan, after defeating Azerbaijani wrestler Haji Aliyev at the ranking tournament in Budapest, spoke about his victory in an interview with the press service of the Armenian Wrestling Federation.
"After yesterday's match, I saw how my victory was celebrated with great joy by my family and everyone else, and my joy multiplied tenfold. The fact that experts see me as a favorite to win at the Olympic Games does not create tension for me. I feel more confident with each tournament," Tevanyan stated, according to Armsport.am.
He noted that the semifinals were more challenging due to the determination of the quota, creating a bit of tension. "The day before the final, there was a little tension. However, I managed to approach my opponent as just another competitor, not as an Azerbaijani, and I was able to wrestle better. During the match with Aliyev, I accidentally hit him in the face, and he ended up feeling bad, as you saw how he reacted," said the Armenian wrestler.
Regarding his calmness, Tevanyan emphasized that such calmness is more than necessary in sports.
