On the evening of February 25, following the announcement from the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, news spread that National Security Service Director Armen Abazyan, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan, and Artsakh Security Council Secretary Vitali Balasanyan had visited Onik Gasparyan, trying to persuade him to resign. Details were even shared about the meeting, stating that the office door had been locked from the inside to pressure the Chief of the General Staff.

One media outlet even reported that Onik Gasparyan slapped Arayik Harutyunyan. However, according to our information, the sole purpose of the meeting was to convince Gasparyan to meet with Nikol Pashinyan. It is unlikely that Armen Abazyan was among those pressuring Gasparyan to resign, as he and Onik Gasparyan are longtime friends, with Abazyan having been directly involved in his appointment as NSS director. Some reports suggest that he even proposed Gasparyan's candidacy.
