“What I saw on the internet regarding Baghramyan Avenue, that cheap promotion of violence, hatred, murder, blood—this cheap performance, I just don’t know... I can’t find the words to comment on that act, that... that...”

Reacting to the futuristic performance titled “The Execution of Traitors or Death to the Traitors,” staged by Narek Malyan before the rally of the “National Salvation Movement” on Baghramyan Avenue tonight, actor Hovhannes Azoyan expressed his deep emotions and anger in a live broadcast on his Facebook page.

The actor also stated, “You know, every time I and many others like me step out of the house, we somehow scrape out a smile from within, giving it to the stranger in front of us, so that their soul fills with a smile and spreads that smile to others. We scrape out, pull out that non-existent smile from inside and give it to the stranger to promote love—oh you scoundrels, you bastards, what are you doing, you have no forgiveness, you have no forgiveness, you insolent ones...”

Earlier, the actor had also commented on this performance, sharing screenshots from it while stating, “You would re-crucify Christ too. This is blatant promotion of violence in the heart of Yerevan, in front of the eyes of children. I condemn it.” Hovhannes Azoyan accompanied his post and screenshots with the Facebook pages of the Ministry of Justice, the National Security Service, the Police, and the Human Rights Defender.
